So cold the horses have ear muffs!

Yep. The horses all had ear muffs. I wanted a pair too. It was -7 degrees when I took those shots. That is about 19 degrees F. Not real bad if you are going from one building to another. But we were walking outside most of the time. All of the Christmas markets are, of course, outside. No wonder they sell lots of glühwein!

It was crowded at most of the markets since we left the little villages. The statues here were still viewable. Many statues and fountains were covered to protect them from the winter elements.

The lights at night were beautiful, but seeing the buildings, fountains, and statues during the day was equally interesting.

This is Hero’s Square, Hősök Tere, near the Baths mentioned earlier. This pictures were shot on our return from the baths. They had a huge outdoor ice rink here on the river. The backdrop of the castle was so cool. If were weren’t so relaxed after the baths we might have rented skates and bruised our butts for awhile. The picture on the right was just a restaurant we checked out. I just loved the building. Everything here has just so much history. To imagine people used to walk or ride their horses of wagons to these places hundreds of years ago is so different than what we have in California. Buildings with placards stating 1631 or 1500 and even some with earlier dates brings to mind images from Game of Thrones!
