Mostnica Gorge Hike

The trail was full of leaves with a smattering of ice. Following my GPS map we weren’t sure if we were going the right way. The first signs we saw was this bridge. They said, at the tourist office, it is a must see. The canyon looked to be steep but it did not prepare us for the gorge ahead. The bridge looked old, made of stone.

The depth of the canyon with the bright colors of the water were stunning. Add the ice formations and the greenery and it is no wonder they said we had to make the hike.

You could almost jump from one side to the other. I am sure that in the summer I would be working my way down the canyon in the water like we did in Zion Canyon with the students.

Joyce is stand on the trail showing off some incredible icicles. Every turn on the trail gave us new views of fascinating formations. I wanted to have some climbing gear and drip down in the canyon to do some exploring.

The algae was busy making oxygen and the bubbles were caught waiting for me to capture with my camera. On the way out we could see one of the villages in the valley. It would take months to just get familiar with all the hikes here in the Bohinj Valley. That is why we will have to return!
